Brian Orakpo Will Be Placed on the IR, Has Possibly Played His Last Snap As a Washington Redskin

 

 

For the second time in 3 years, Brian Orakpo is hurt and out for the season. Kind of mixed feelings, because obviously you never want to see a guy go down to a season-ending injury. But Orakpo has been horrible this year. Hasn’t been able to pressure the QB at all and still isn’t good at stopping the run. That’s a whole lot of nothing from a guy they franchised and is cashing an 11 million dollar paycheck. The Skins seemingly drafted Trent Murphy in the 2nd round this year to replace Orakpo, which makes the pick good but the decision to give Orakpo 11 million dollars when there were other needs that needed to be addressed a bit iffy. Yes, that is a bit results oriented, because if Rak had another 10 sack season, I would probably be leading the resign Orakpo bandwagon. In a perfect world, both him and Ryan Kerrigan would have teamed up for years to come and terrorized opposing QBs. Orakpo was a good player on the field when healthy, and a great guy off the field, but it seems his time in DC is just about up. Hate to see him go out this way, but he will for sure sign with an NFC East team and sack Redskins QBs for the next 10 years.
